The fruits of my labors

Step 1: Plant a garden

Step 2: Water the kids (and the garden)

Step 3: Harvest one GIGANTIC zucchini!

Step 4: Bake the yummiest zucchini bread EVER.

My house smells SOOO. GOOD.

The end.

This is why we keep them :)

Try staying angry at that face for chewing up ALL the gum in the cupboard
and then spitting the wad out between the cushions of the couch.

Ben's first sunburn

My son got his first sunburn! In our family, that's as momentous as a first tooth. He was playing outside with his buddy all day, the weather wasn't too bad, the backyard was mostly shaded, so I thought he was fine. We both lost track of time, and he lost his shirt. Result? Serious sunburn.

Sure, he looks happy about it now, but you should've seen him when he tried to take a bath, put on pajamas, or lay in bed!

I took him in the front yard to pick off a piece of the aloe vera plant and he totally flipped out. He thought it was a pokey cactus and I was going to stab it into him. I showed him how you squeeze it and the juice comes out, but he was convinced it was a weapon of mass destruction.
The plant was put in the yard simply BECAUSE our family glows in the dark! Sunburns are inevitable, and I'm just surprised it didn't happen sooner!

He thought it was the coolest thing ever two days later when it started to peel
off in big chunks. Now THAT's a boy reaction.

krazy kids

I locked myself in my bedroom today so I could talk to my dad on the phone for Father's Day, and I needed some quiet. My kids always try to talk to me when I'm on the phone!

Outside the door, they were just waiting for their turn to talk to me. They basically formed a line, like they had appointments. The dogs were also anxious to take their turn jumping all over mom, so they were also hovering in between the kids.

Grace said to the dogs: "This is the kid line, you get in the dog line."

hahahahaha!!!

They're moving on Friday!!!

This is the last straw!! (That's my front door by the way, my WOOD front door with their names CARVED into it!!) I finally sent a note to their mother detailing her children's destruction of my property. Thankfully they're moving this Friday, and we can start the physical healing of our home. My metal and emotional healing may take a little longer.

San Diego is where I'm meant to live

This post is basically just a ton of pictures of our awesome weekend in San Diego! It was so amazing, we're going to make it an annual girls-only trip. It was Toni, Emily & Me... and hopefully next year Abby too. We went a resort with a private beach, which was really affordable divided by three people! We went to the San Diego Zoo, the beach, Seaport Village, and Mission Beach. Can't wait to go again!

I saw God today...

You know that country song "I saw God today?" (get over it you country haters... hear me out). A man walks out of the hospital after sitting by the bed of a loved one, walks down the street and sees a flower growing out of a crack in the sidewalk. It's as if that flower was put there just for him, a little piece of God's creations popping up to offer some cheer, and peace.

I got home from a long night at work tonight, stumbled out of the garage at 11:30 PM with my keys in hand to let myself into the house, and this is what I saw on my front doorstep. Just slowly moving it's wings, maybe resting, maybe sleeping (do butterflies do that?) It was so absolutely beautiful, it took my breath away. Look at how perfect the wings are, the patterns and colors. It was as if God placed that butterfly on my front doorstep just for me, a little bit of beauty on a cracked slab of cement.

I saw God today...
