Afraid of the dark

Grace decided yesterday that she was going to be afraid of the dark. She was yelling at her bedroom door last night that she didn't want to sleep in her room because it was dark, and she wanted to come lay down in our bed. We told her that our room was going to be dark too, and she yelled "I like your dark better!"

Oh No!

Grace was looking at some old photo albums and she ran across this picture, which is Ember when she was just four months old. She was trying to give her dad a kiss, but in her un-coordinated way she ended up biting his neck. Grace started screaming when she saw this picture, and I came running to find out what was wrong! What could possibly be scary about a photo album? She yelled, "Ember's eating daddy!"

Poor little girl, what a scary thing to misunderstand! :)

Goodbye Hammy

The kids hampster died last night and we had a small funeral for him in the backyard today. Our little Gracie was so devastated, she kept crying that she missed Hammy and she wanted him to come back. They were so heartbroken, but in their prayers they thanked Heavenly Father that Hammy wasn't sick anymore and that he was happier where he was. It was so sweet, and it made me grateful that they were paying attention all those times I told them about life after death.

Birthday Girl

Happy Birthday to our beautiful Gracie! She turned 3 on Saturday, and I can't believe how the time has flown. Ember and Ben asked about having another brother or sister in our family, and I told them that Grace is our last baby. She overheard me and put her little fists on her hips and shouted at me, "I'm not a baby! I'm a big girl now!" Yes you are, Grace.

Ever After

Noelle and Eric got married last Saturday, so now the kids have a new uncle. Noelle (no, she's not a baby anymore) is now Sis. Lara. Her last name didn't change much, did it? The girls looked adorable in their matching dresses at the reception, and Ben was the handsomest boy under 4 feet tall. Congrats to Noelle & Eric, we love you guys!

I'm not that old!

I took the kids to Fiesta Mall, and they asked me if the mall was there when I was a kid. I said yes it was, and that was where I got my first job too. Ben said, "Wow, that mall is old!" I replied, "Ben, I'm not old!" He corrected me quickly by saying "Mom, I didn't say you were old, I said THE MALL was old!" Apparantly he didn't realize that meant the same thing. Ah well, to a 5 year old I guess 32 is ancient.
