The mother of all splinters

Ember was in the backyard barefoot again, chasing after our escape artist of a dog, and she stepped on some rotten wood and got the mother of all splinters. The piece of wood was 2 1/2 inches long, but the section that went under the skin was almost an inch long. And it was THICK! It took two of us to get it out, Austin had to hold her down while I pulled as fast as I could. I also had to be gentle, so I didn't leave in any pieces. It throbbed for awhile, we covered it with neosporin, she's soaking it in the tub, and we're hoping for the best. She has a huge ballet performance this Saturday, and right now it hurts for her to walk. Great.

We'll be praying for Ember! I am SO SORRY for her!!!!! She must have been so brave! it takes two of us to get even baby splinters out of Lindsay! Good luck to her on her ballet recital!
