After 28 hours awake...

The mother of all splinters

Ember was in the backyard barefoot again, chasing after our escape artist of a dog, and she stepped on some rotten wood and got the mother of all splinters. The piece of wood was 2 1/2 inches long, but the section that went under the skin was almost an inch long. And it was THICK! It took two of us to get it out, Austin had to hold her down while I pulled as fast as I could. I also had to be gentle, so I didn't leave in any pieces. It throbbed for awhile, we covered it with neosporin, she's soaking it in the tub, and we're hoping for the best. She has a huge ballet performance this Saturday, and right now it hurts for her to walk. Great.

I LOVE things that sparkle.

I love to dress up, I'm a real girly girl.

A good high heeled shoe makes my heart go pitter-patter.


A splash of perfume is exciting.


But mostly? I'm a flip flop wearing, freckle faced,
t-shirt and jeans kinda country girl.



And I'm damn proud of that.

Hi, I'm still here. Depressed as all get out, wondering why life is so hard, wishing I could "pause the game" as my kids say and take a seriously long time out from... everything.

I'll be back to blogging when I find things funny again.

Driving back home from our trip up north Grace asked in a sleepy voice from the back seat,

"Mom, are we back in our world yet?"

"Yes baby girl, we're almost home."
