Tonight, at the request of one of my doctors, we had a family home evening lesson on healthy eating. Each child (and grownup) was assigned a vegetable to research, and present to the family the health benefits of that specific veggie. Austin had carrots, I had green beans, Ember had cucumbers, Ben had zucchini, and Grace had broccoli. We had a sample of each vegetable cooked different ways (raw, boiled, steamed, sauted) and each kid had to eat a plate full of veggies before we were allowed to dish out the lasagna. The night was a huge success, and because the kids did the research themselves, they were excited to eat their own vegetable! Maybe somebody has a new favorite, or a new appreciation for healthy eating. What a fun and healthy night!
(Ben learned that zucchini helps in the production of sex hormones... I'm just sayin').
